Teaser Tuesday: “The Night Bird”

This week’s Teaser Tuesday comes from The Night Bird, by Brian Freeman, in which a serial killer starts targeting the patients of a psychiatrist whose therapeutic technique involves replacing her patients’ traumatic memories with new, non-traumatic ones, thus curing them of their phobias or whatever. Sort of like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, only without the attractions of any actual science fiction or Kate Winslet.

Random Rejection: Mindmares

This week’s random rejection comes to us from the small press magazine Mindmares.  The story in question, “Feeder”, is about how much May loves her sweet little birds, and the lengths to which she goes to provide them with yummy suet.  Given that this story comes out of my splatterpunk days, you can sort of imagine how she goes about it.

Random Rejection: “Leech Field”

So I’ve alluded to the fact that I have a file with a LOT of rejection letters in it. I thought it might be interesting to pull one at random from time to time and post it, so everyone can experience the fun of reading what I like to call “you suck” letters (even though they don’t generally actually say “you suck”). So here’s one from 2000, for a short story called “Leech Field”.
