Teaser Tuesday 9/10/2019: “The Strain”

So I am finally getting around to reading The Strain, the first in an apocalyptic vampire trilogy by Guillermo del Toro (whom you may have seen mentioned here once or twice) and Chuck Hogan (whom you probably, uh, haven’t). I’ve had this book lying around since like 2015, so, yeah, it’s about time it floated to the top.

Teaser Tuesday 6/25/2019: “That Risen Snow”

So this week I’m reading That Risen Snow, by Rob E. Boley, which answers a question no one ever thought to ask: What if, after being kissed by the Prince, Snow White awakened as a ravenous zombie?

Teaser Tuesday 5/14/19: The “Night Watch” Collection

So this week I’m reading the Night Watch collection, the international best-selling dark fantasy series by Russian author Sergei Lukyanenko. The collection gathers the first three books in the series — Night Watch, Day Watch, and Twilight Watch — into a single volume. Being that this volume is around 2,000 pages long, I’ll probably be reading it for roughly as long as it takes to resolve a land war in Asia.

Not A Review Of “Kingdom” Hats

So not long ago, I watched the first season of the new Netflix series Kingdom, a zombie thriller that also happens to be a Korean period piece set at the very end of the 16th century.

Teaser Tuesday: “Threshold”

So this week I was reading Threshold, by Caitlín R. Kiernan, a horror/fantasy novel in which a geology studen gets mixed up with sinister fossils. Or something like that.

Teaser Tuesday 12/4/2018: “All the Birds in the Sky”

So this week I was reading All the Birds in the Sky, the Nebula and Locus award-winning pre-apocalyptic SF/Fantasy mashup by Charlie Jane Anders, in which a small group of witches goes to war with a small group of techies as each tries to save the world in its own particular idiom, which are, unfortunately, sort of diametrically opposed. Or at least that’s what they think.

Teaser Tuesday 11/13/2018: “Where the Dead Walk”

This week I’m reading Where the Dead Walk, by John Bowen, in which the crew of one of those ubiquitous paranormal investigation shows unexpectedly runs up against the real thing. Hilarity does not ensue.

Teaser Tuesday 11/6/2018: “Extinct”
