Going on a little trip, but will be back before I leave.

It makes me so happy to see someone enjoying it! I’m the Girl Scout who made it into a library a few years ago

May I ask what happened to it? It was on the Main Street right? I moved up here to Ramona and I wish it was there still. Any info would be appreciated. I’d love to buy it if you still have it. Thanks

Hi Michelle! I’m afraid I don’t know what happened to it; I didn’t even know it was gone, it’s been a while since I was back to Ramona … You are correct, though, it was on Main Street near Seventh Street, in front of Packard’s Coffee Shop, which I gather has closed. Maybe someone who used to work there would have some information about it?

Hello again Michelle! The former owner of Packard’s, Nora Seidl, responded to say that the new owners of the building didn’t want the TARDIS, so she offered it to a winery when the coffee shop closed in January of 2022. Sadly before that it apparently suffered some abuse and misuse and complaints from people in town, which I can’t fathom, since I thought it was delightful.

It’s a Free Little Library outside Packard’s Coffee Shop in Ramona, California. Being full of books, it really is bigger on the inside!

Hello
I’m Nora and used to own the coffee shop Packards in Ramona till January 2022. This is my story my daughter loves Dr Who and I wanted to do a themed Halloween because our Main Street does a big event. So we decided to build a Tardis it ended up being bigger and heavier than I anticipated so we left it at our shop. It bought so many people to our shop. Then we did some trivia nights with many things like bow tie pasta, Jammie dodgers, custard and fish sticks, adipose treats. Few years later we had a Girl Scout that wanted to turn it into an exchange book shop for her star project. Sadly a few years later I couldn’t keep homeless people out of and they destroyed it, so we locked it and just kept as a prop. Of course during these years there were many people in our town that didn’t enjoy it and complained about it. The new owners didn’t want it so I offered it to a winery.

Hello Nora! Thank you so much for telling us the story behind the TARDIS! I’m sorry to hear about what happened to it since we were there, from the vandalism to the people complaining about it. What’s to complain about? The Doctor defends the Earth against all enemies! Anyway I loved it and thought it was fantastic. Your trivia nights with the Doctor Who-themed foods (I forgot about Eleven and his love for custard and fish sticks!) sound like a lot of fun. If we lived closer to Ramona I can guarantee I would have shown up for some of them. I hope it is enjoying a place of prominence in its new home at the winery!

What a great idea for a little library. Yes, a TARDIS is much bigger on the inside 🙂
