Words, Words, Everywhere The Words

So I’ve sort of been collecting amusing (to me, anyway) screen shots of Spelling Bee words that were not accepted. Most of them are words I didn’t expect it to take but that I wanted to spell anyway, and since they’ve started to kinda clutter up my device with pictures, I figured it was time to finally post them. (Like I said before, it’s not easy keeping an author blog going when you’re not authoring …)

I figured, hey, if it took moratoria, why not try “vomitoria”? Also, TIL that a vomitorium is not, in fact, a place where ancient Romans used to go to throw up but rather just an exit from an amphitheatre. From Wikipedia:

vomitorium is a passage situated below or behind a tier of seats in an amphitheatre or a stadium through which large crowds can exit rapidly at the end of an event. They can also be pathways for actors to enter and leave stage.[1] The Latin word vomitorium, plural vomitoria, derives from the verb vomō, vomere, “to spew forth”. In ancient Roman architecturevomitoria were designed to provide rapid egress for large crowds at amphitheatres and stadia, as they do in modern sports stadia and large theatres.[2]

Romans and their complicated language …

Next up, we have a triptych of words for the dog lovers in the group. You know who you are.

For those who like kitchen gadgets, or fans of Minnie Mixer:

They didn’t accept this word?!

You know what that means? I’ll tell you what it means.

Next, we’ve got this one:

Because you can’t have a King in the Norf without a Norf, right?

And finally, in case you have forgotten: All the old paintings on the tomb, they do the sand dance, don’t you know? If they move too quick

    1. Yeah, every day after I finish Spelling Bee I go to the comments to see what word(s) are getting the highest number of complaints that day for being left out. I can usually predict it fairly successfully! 😁
