The Sunshine Blogger Award

Check it out, I got a blog award! Me! Not the animals, for once! It’s the Sunshine Blogger award, and I was given it by Thomas Wikman of Leonberger Life and Superfactful:

Now, if you remember the Golden Age of blogging, you may also remember that blog awards often come with rules, and this one is no exception. In this case, they are:

• Display the award’s official logo somewhere on your blog.
• Thank the person who nominated you.
• Provide a link to your nominator’s blog.
• Answer your nominators’ questions.
• Nominate up to 11 bloggers.
• Ask your nominees 11 questions.
• Notify your nominees by commenting on at least one of their blog posts.

Here are the questions that Thomas asked his nominees, along with (some) answers:

Question 1 : What’s your favorite movie(s)?

I don’t really have a favorite movie. I have movies that I like, but no favorite I can identify. If you put a sword to my head, I guess I would say the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Question 2 : What is something you’ve done or experienced that is unusual?

You get three guesses, and the first two don’t count.

Question 3 : What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet?

Hmm, I haven’t got a bucket list or anything. If I think of something I want to try, I usually do it.

Question 4 : What’s something you’re really passionate about?

Well, I used to get up at 5:30am every day to work on my books, but since that’s kind of at a standstill these days, I suppose I need to think of something else …

Question 5 : If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I have a few favorite places, like the Adirondacks in New York and Catalina Island out here in California, but I think I would need to audition more places before deciding on an answer to that one.

Question 6 : What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend or a day off?

Probably taking the dogs to the park and then reading for a while with one or more cats in my lap.

Question 7 : What’s something you wish more people understood about you?

You know that meme that goes around from time to time about how “I want to be invited, I just don’t want to go”? Yeah I don’t even want to be invited.

Question 8 : What’s your go-to comfort food or favorite meal?

Everybody knows the answer to this one is pizza lol

Question 9 : If you could have dinner with any three people (dead or alive), who would they be?

I figure one is probably expected to answer this with famous and/or fascinating people from history but it’s quite well-known that I will not talk to people I have only just met, which would make for a pretty awkward dinner. It sure would be nice to have dinner with my grandparents again though.

Question 10 : What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Hmm, probably the time my aunt and uncle up in the L.A. area encouraged us to buy a house when we moved out here to California twenty-odd years ago, despite the fact that houses seemed outrageously expensive at the time. Because holy crap are they even more outrageously expensive now.

Question 11 : What kind of music are you into?

See here for everything you never wanted to know about what kind of music I listen to. (The short answer is that I enjoy a wide range of genres, but I mostly listen to indie rock with mostly female vocalists; my favorite bands are Metric and The Joy Formidable.)
