Cross-Post: The Liebster Award

As I’m sure most readers are aware, I also run The Oceanside Animals blog (formerly Dennis’s Diary of Destruction). Proving the truth of the admonition never to work with children or animals, because they will steal all the scenes in which they appear, their blog has always been much more popular than this one, but every once in awhile, they share their fame with me. This week, I got to tag along with them on their Sunday Awards and Meme Show, when they were given the Liebster Award and I got tagged for it as well. Naturally most of the space in the post is devoted to Charlee, Chaplin, and Lulu, but I got to answer a few questions too. The show is reproduced here in its entirety with the kind permission of their agent.

Do You Have A Liebster For Your Monkey?

I don’t often do awards on this blog, because Dennis gets them all reasons, but recently my friend Sharkbytes of My Quality Day gave Dennis me a Liebster award. Also known as Joan D. Young, She is the author of the Dead Mule Swamp series of small-town mysteries, and her late vizsla, Maggie, was Dennis’s longtime blog friend. Naturally Dennis snagged the award and proceeded to put on a Sunday Awards and Meme Show in his inimitable style, and while I can’t compete with his showmanship, I thought I would go ahead and post the award and answer the questions.

Vote For Pedro?

Well, or, seeing as Pedro isn’t in the running for a Pitch Perfect Pick this week, you could vote for my book Shards, if you want to … Clicking on the image below will take you to the voting page.

I only voted once for myself, because that’s how I roll, which means I got an actual vote from somebody who isn’t me.  I don’t know who else voted for Shards, but thank you, anonymous person!  And another thank you to anyone else who might have the time and inclination to pay Underground Book Reviews a visit and place a vote for Shards — as far as I can tell, no login or account is required.**

** EDIT: I’ve heard that the voting is in fact asking people to log in using WordPress or Facebook.  I apparently never log out of anything so I didn’t realize it was doing this.  Sorry about that!  I appreciate that people have been willing to cast votes for Shards, but please don’t worry if you can’t get to the voting screen — I wouldn’t ask anyone to create an account or log in to a random site on my behalf!  🙂

Pitch Perfect?

So this week I started reviewing my last completed but unpublished manuscript, Father’s Books.  This one is essentially a ghost story, set, like Crows and Long Before Dawn, in a thinly veiled version of the Mohawk Valley region of New York.  But more on that in a week or two, because this week, I heard from Underground Book Reviews that Shards is a Pitch Perfect Pick finalist for this week.  Pretty cool!
