This week I’m still reading Peter F. Hamilton’s The Dreaming Void, part one of his “Void” trilogy. At 90% through, the faithful still haven’t gotten their ships built yet for launching their pilgrimage to the Void, which will either (1) take them to an Elysian realm of eternal life and happiness or (2) cause the Void to wake up and devour the galaxy. I’m betting it won’t be (1).
The Unisphere had never been a homogeneous system, nor was it designed in accordance with logical principles. That was quite ironic considering the purely digital medium it dealt with.
Hmm, sounds like the Internet hasn’t changed much in 2,000 years.
And, of course, here is this week’s teaser from The War of the Ravels, whose first revised draft is getting pretty close to complete!
“I think …” Brennendah trailed off, as if not actually sure what he thought. This was unusual enough to make Bernard nervous, and when the Rittandic’s head swiveled nearly all the way around to look at him, it didn’t make him any less unsettled. “I told you Untelleh would know we were coming.”
See, Bernard? Sneaking up on the witch-queen never works!
Bernard, you have such innocence! Good luck with that sneaking!
