Teaser Tuesday 4/10/2018: “The Darkest Part of the Forest”

This week, having finished with Alice, I have moved on to another quasi-fairy (or is that faerie?) tale, The Darkest Part of the Forest, by Holly Black, of Coldest Girl in Coldtown fame.

Teaser Tuesday 3/27/2018: “The Father Hunt”

So this week I’m still reading Brave New Worlds, but I’m also re-reading The Father Hunt, by Rex Stout. And since most of the stories in Brave New Worlds have been firmly on the “meh” side (it was heavily front-loaded with the better ones), I decided I would do something highly unusual and feature a print book Teaser Tuesday this week.

TBR

Usually that means “To Be Read”, as in, “I’ve got two hundred books in my TBR pile!”  But in this case it means “To Be Reviewed”, as I’ve been notified that my Pitch Perfect winner Shards has been selected for a review by Steve Wetherell at Underground Book Reviews!

Of Pixels And Dead Trees

So, this arrived in the mail last week:

Teaser Tuesday: “Spirelli Paranormal Investigations: Episodes 1-3”

So this week I’m reading a short omnibus, Spirelli Paranormal Investigations: Episodes 1-3, by Kate Baray, which — as you may surmise — collects three short novels about the adventures of Jack Spirelli, who, uh, investigates the paranormal.  And he has a sidekick who is a dragon that can take the form of a human woman.  Sounds like one of my characters, no?  So of course I had to read it.

Alas, poor Yorick.

Teaser Tuesday 9/8/15: (Still) “The Dragonriders of Pern”

So this week I’m (shocker!) still reading the 800-odd-page long Dragonriders of Pern trilogy — I think I’m somewhere near the beginning of the second book, which begins about seven years after the end of the first one. Thread is still falling, dragons are still (mostly) burning it, and somebody has nice hair.

Teaser Tuesday 6/30/15: “Schooled”

So this week I’m reading Schooled, by Christa Charter, a humorous mystery involving a murder that takes place on what is, apparently, a thinly-veiled version of the Microsoft Xbox campus, where the author used to work in the same capacity that the novel’s heroine, Lexy Cooper, works at the fictitious Xenon corporation.  The only reason I know any of this is that people on Goodreads said so  Such background information is not required for reading the book, but does give the author a certain amount of inside baseball credibility for writing about the video game industry.

103,000 words = 215 letter-sized pages. Seems like it should add up to more, doesn’t it?

Not to worry, everyone. I got my proofs back from the person who borrowed them, and they’re now on the shelf along with my other books and various sundries.*
