Teaser Tuesday: “Summerland”

So recently I was reading Summerland, a fantasy novel by Michael Chabon, who you may remember from such books as Wonder Boys and The Yiddish Policeman’s Union and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, which has never appeared as a Teaser Tuesday because I read it way back when Teaser Tuesday was just Tuesday.

Yes, that’s a station wagon suspended from a zeppelin. No, Clark Griswold is not driving it.

Teaser Tuesday 1/8/19: “The Girl Who Ruled Fairyland – For a Little While”

So recently I came across a long short story (or very short novella) called “The Girl Who Ruled Fairyland – For a Little While“, by Catherynne M. Valente. This is officially numbered as “Fairyland 0.5” and could be considered a prequel to her “Fairyland” series, inasmuch as it takes place prior to the events of The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, and concerns itself with how the missing monarch of that book, Queen Mallow, became Queen Mallow in the first place.

Teaser Tuesday 10/23/18: “The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making”

This week I’m reading The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, the first in the Fairyland series, by one of my favorite authors, Catherynne M. Valente.

Teaser Tuesday 12/26/2017: “Six-Gun Snow White”

So this week (or rather, last week, by the time this appears), I am (or rather, was) reading Six-Gun Snow White, by Catherynne M. Valente. As one may guess, this is a retelling of the “Snow White” story as a Western, in which Snow White is a half-Crow gunslinger, the Evil Queen (known only as Mrs. H) is the second wife of a robber baron, the Huntsman is a Pinkerton agent, the Seven Dwarves are outlaws, and Charming is a horse. And yes, it’s still written as a fable.

Six-Gun Snow White
I can save myself, thanks.
