So this week I’m reading Moving Day, a crime/revenge thriller by Jonathan Stone, in which thieves posing as the crew from a moving company show up at an elderly couple’s home one day ahead of the real movers, and proceed to carefully and meticulously steal all of their stuff.
So this week I’m reading The Purge of Babylon, subtitled A Novel of Survival, by Sam Sisavath.
Oh wait, wrong Purge. Hang on …

This week I’m reading Lady of Ashes, by Christine Trent. This is a historical mystery set in the Victorian era, revolving around Violet, a female undertaker, and her husband Graham, who is, uh, a male undertaker. And, I suspect, a gunrunner, although that is currently unconfirmed.

So the astute reader, or at least those without short-term memory loss, may remember that a few weeks ago, before I got all sidetracked by Shards‘s unexpected nomination as a Pitch Perfect Pick over at Undeground Book Reviews (which it won — thanks everybody!), I mentioned that I had started working on my next project. That means it’s time to get back to the work-in-progress teasers, which in turn means it’s time to get back to the Teaser Tuesdays for what I’m currently reading. So October seems to have been my month for getting caught up on movies I should have seen long ago, but didn’t. A few weeks ago, it was 1997’s “Contact“; and on Halloween, I finally got around to seeing the cult SF/horror film “Event Horizon“, also from 1997.
So this week I’ve been reading Palimpsest, by Catherynne M. Valente, which is not-inaccurately described by a Goodreads reviewer as “a book about a sexually-transmitted city“.
So this week I’m reading The Girl with All the Gifts, by M.R. Carey, a post-apocalyptic zombie “hungries” novel in which society has been laid waste by a mutated (possibly weaponized) form of Ophiocordyceps. Perhaps it takes place on the same devastated earth as “The Last of Us” …
