Hey, look, it’s September, and that means, once again, that it’s Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month!

In much the same way that Thanksgiving and Christmas have become occasions for annual reposts over at the animals’ blog, it seems that one post in September is going to be dedicated to revisiting The Event. This year, rather than just link back to all the original posts (although I’m still doing that too), I thought I would reproduce the first of the Event posts in its entirety, since that’s the one that includes most of the helpful tips about what to look for and what to do (and, uh, what not to do) should aneurysm troubles come your way. Not A Review Of “Outer Range”

So recently, having finished four three seasons of Killing Eve, we have been casting around for something else that my wife won’t find too violent/gory (and the four three seasons of Killing Eve just barely slid in under that barrier), and, for the moment, have settled on the Amazon series Outer Range. This series doesn’t have very many episodes yet, so it won’t occupy us for long, but it’s the one she currently asks for when we sit down to watch television after a long day of trying to tire out The Bean.

Random, Uh, Brochure: The Scott Meredith Literary Agency

So this week I beseeched the Gods of Randomness to tell me what to pull out of my vast trove of rejection letters, and they told me, Lo! Thou must pick the sixth item in the folder for the letter M! So that’s what I did. But it’s not a rejection letter. It’s not even a form letter. It is, essentially, a brochure—an unsolicited submission, if you will—from the Scott Meredith Literary Agency:

Not A Review of “Dazed and Confused”

So recently we watched Dazed and Confused, the classic coming-of-age comedy from 1993 by Richard Linklater:

I don’t remember why I put this movie in the queue, except that we had never seen it, and I didn’t remember anything about it, except that it was set in the 1970s and that it was Matthew McConaughey’s first big role. A Change Of Scenery

So for the last thirty years or so, whenever I’ve been working on a book or short story (which has been most of the time), I would do it in the mornings before going (or, since our office closed, “going”) to work. Also, for the past 15 years or so, when I’ve been working on the blog—mostly not this one, of course, but rather, the one with the animals on it—I’ve been doing that in the mornings befor work, too, or else on the weekends. But it’s only the last year or so that I’ve been trying to work on a book and do a daily post on the animals’ blog, and that, it turns out, is just a little too much to manage.
