So last week, I got this big notification on my Facebook author page:
I have no idea why I was awarded this status now, when it’s been a couple of years since I put out a book, and I’m still just plodding along with the one post a week. Maybe it was that post about Marilyn Monroe. But anyway, it’s true: My page does indeed display this title in my self-selected category … for now … if you can find it.
Did you spot it? It’s in little tiny print … off to the left … towards the bottom … Such that even I, who knew it was (allegedly) there, had to hunt around a bit in order to find it. But at least it’s not on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying “Beware of the Leopard”.
Anyhow, you know how it goes: A “Rising Creator” award from Facebook plus $4 will buy you a latte at Black Rock. And a “Rising Creator” award plus $12 will buy you some Facebook ads. And … Oh, wait. I think I may have just figured out why they awarded me this title … 🤔
I like the picture at the top of your page…

The red alert ad button started blinking at the beginning of your post. Facebook is becoming increasingly devious with their advertising solicitations.

And simultaneously more cumbersome to use!

Well one thing is obvious, your page looks great! Much better than anything I’ve seen. It probably has something to do with that.

Oh, thank you! I have to credit my dad for the header photo, that’s the library of my books at their house, being watched over by a very stern Beethoven … 😃

What’s even stranger is that I hardly use my account, except to go to other’s who don’t have blogs, LOL! Maybe it comes from when I follow or like a page?

Wait a minute. I spend money on FB ads and I didn’t get a stinking award.

I bought some Facebook ads a long time ago and as far as I can tell they didn’t do anything or drive any traffic, so maybe the trick is to stop buying the ads so that Facebook gets antsy and tries to lure you back!
